Swim With Dolphins Snorkeling Adventure

YouTube player

Strap on your snorkel gear and get ready to jump into the warm Hawaiian sea for the swim of a lifetime. On your 4-hour Ocean Encounters journey, you will travel to Kealakekua Bay to join more than 600 underwater species, including Hawaiian spinner and spotted dolphins.

On your 4 hour Ocean Encounters journey, you will make your way down the beautiful Kohala Coast heading north to Pu‘u Ali‘i Bay, home of beautiful Makalawena. And believe us when we say… this is one of the most stunning locations on the Big Island.

Your Kealakekua Bay snorkeling adventure will begin in the pristine waters and the vibrant reef of the marine sanctuary at Kealakekua Bay, near the Captain Cook monument. This is perhaps the best snorkeling spot you will find anywhere in the state. Take your underwater camera back out to capture the colorful schools of fish, reefs, and pods of spinner dolphins that are also commonly spotted in the bay.

You will then have a moment to take in another breathtaking view of the bay and its natural beauty, while you enjoy a light lunch. We only serve light snacks.

First Time Snorkeler? — Not a problem!

We specialize in first-time snorkelers because we believe that everyone should get the chance to experience Kona’s spectacular underwater beauty. If you feel uncomfortable at first, don’t worry! Our first mates will snorkel with you until you feel comfortable on your own.

We have excellent flotation devices and a wide assortment of masks, snorkels, and rubber fins, from sizes 1 to 13. All gear is included for your enjoyment. We will give you a 10-minute lesson on how to use the gear properly so that you will enjoy every moment of your snorkel.

Bring your bathing suit and a towel and if you have your own personal snorkel equipment or flotation feel free to bring those things with you if you prefer.

Children under 36 inches tall and infants need to bring their own life jackets.

Don’t forget to bring your Camera!

Is the Ocean rough?

Kona is located on the leeward side of the island. The tradewinds blow from east to west and we are blocked from those winds by the large volcanic mountains of Mauna Kea, Mauna Loa, and our mountain…Hualalai. Even if it is windy up north by Waikoloa, it is usually very calm in Kona.

Are we guaranteed to see Dolphins, Mantas, and/or Whales?

These creatures are in the open ocean and not in an aquarium. However, we know where they like to hang out and hardly ever get “skunked”. We offer GUARANTEED SIGHTINGS or you can come again for FREE!
