Kanaloa Octopus Farm Tour
Infants (12 months and under) can join for free!
Come visit our facility in Kailua-Kona! Learn about octopus, and see them up close and personal.
Booking is only available online. If you can not select a specific date or time, that means it is fully booked or unavailable.
Tours are only offered three times a day at 10:00 AM, 2:00 PM, and 4:00 PM. Approximately 1 hour long. Due to the limited space of the lab, only 35 people can book per tour, on a first book, first-serve basis. Infants are free.
The facility is located directly behind the Kona Airport, in the Hawaii Ocean Science Technology Park’s research campus. Direction links will be provided in the confirmation email.
- Head north on Highway 19 (Queen Kaahumanu Highway) and make a left turn at Kaiminani Dr./Kahilihili St. (you should see a sign that says “Hawaii Ocean Science Technology Park).
- Follow that road until you get to a stop sign, and make a right.
- Head down towards the beach, and continue parallel to the beach all the way to the end! You should get to a gated “Research Campus.” Enter through the gates and make a left at the last palm tree. You should see the facility directly to the left.
- Same as above but you will head south on Highway 19, and make a right at Kaiminani Road/Kahilihili St.
Make sure to arrive 15 minutes early. Gates to the research campus will be closed on the weekends and holidays. Please pull over to the side and wait for staff to let you in 10-15 minutes before tour time.
Clothing for hot, humid weather is recommended.
